Hello,

I was using removable hot plug discs on a O2 running Irix 6.3.
On this system, devices, once created, stay under /dev/dsk /dev/rdsk and
/dev/scsi.
With this kind of behavior, I was able through macros to mount, export
and umont removable disks with simple command. The removable box provide
a slot and a scsi id for each disc but contrary of Jaz/Zip/Syquest
systems, if no disc is in, no id is visible on the controller. This box
is a "Kingston like" technology.

Today, with 6.5 (6.5.3 to be precise), we have the same dynamic behavior
than O200, devices are cleaned or created at bootstart. So, I can’t
start anymore my discs with the old fashioned way. Thus, even if 6.5
brought the scsiadminswap command, O2′s scsi controller claimed "This
scsi controller does not support quiescing bus". So, it’s not even
possible to dynamically change the /dev…

Does anyone know a procedure to dynamically create coherent disk devices
so they can be mounted/unmounted WITHOUT REBOOTING system? (Of course!)

Hi all…

    I just got a old Iris Indigo( the purple one) , but when I turn on
the power, it comes "Initializing tod clock, 0sec, 0min, 0hour,…" And
it keeps repeating…

    How do I solve this problem? Does it have a function key like the
SPARC to enter the monitor mode ( ctrl + A )?

    And I plan to connect it with our lab’s ethernet, how much for the
transciver? Do I need to buy it from SGI?

Hi.

    I’m part of a Ham radio club and we received a gift….  A xylogics
annex micro els.  This piece of hardware permits to plug 16 serial ports

and making them available to the network…

    The only problem, is that we don’t have any documentation about this

peice of hardware and no software.

    Has any one worked with this model or something similar and would
provide some explication on how to access each ports….

Hi,

I installed a Adaptec 3950 (U2) in a VW320 and a CD-RW. I also installed the
latest HAL and Adaptec drivers. I can now create CD’s in the machine and
they read ok on other machines, but if I insert a CDROM in the machine it
blue screens. Any idea?

what new hard drives in a 4gb size are available for these inidgo2s?  I
had a seagate barracuda die the other day, and  it seems they nolonger
make the ultra scsi models in anything smaller than 18gb.  Also is it as
big a heat issue/problem running a 9gb in the upper bay and the lower
bay?
SGI engineers cautioned me not to have 2 high capacity drives because of
the heat buildup.

Hi,
I got a Silicon Graphics color display monitor Model HL7965KW-SG (1992) that
I would like to connect to the PC.
The input connector is a 13W3.
Anyone has already done this ? Or know how to do this ?

  I don’t know if this is the right forum, but I am having some trouble connecting
a new LP 750 projector to my O2.  First of all, is the video output the
same as
any other PC?  The connector looks basically the same, but is this true?
 There
are two problems I am having.  First of all, when I boot my workstation after
connecting to the projector, I get the ‘generic’ X window login instead of
the 4DWM.  Is the workstation somehow querying the projector and not finding
something it is expecting?  Also, I get a green haze when using the projector
that I do not get when connected to my sgi monitor.  Has anyone else
used the
LP750 with an SG?  Is this normal?

    I just bought a Indigo 2 Extreme R4400 200mhz, anyway  is there any
Floppy or Zip drives that are compatible and if so how much would they
cost?
